Make Your Own Hypertufa Plant Container
with Beth Hawkes
Hyper---what? Hypertufa is a method of mixing ingredients to create a beautiful planter that looks like stone, but weighs less, and can take on virtually whatever shape you like. The finished product can eventually take on a beautiful patina of mosses and lichens. Beth Hawkes, professional gardener/greenhouse operator, will walk you through the process as you create your own hypertufa plant container. You will leave with the knowledge and skills to reproduce other containers as your needs arise. During the first class, you will create your planter from the mixture and a mold, learning all the tips and tricks Beth has learned over the years; your unique creation will cure and the second week, you will return to finish it by filling it with beautiful succulents. You may bring your own 12-inch or less diameter plastic bowl or other vessel to use as a mold, or you can use one that Beth will supply. Beth will supply all other materials including molding mixture, soil and succulents. A materials fee of $25 is included in the cost of the course. Register early; this class will fill fast!
