Certified Clinical Medical Assistant Program (CCMA) - 140 Classroom Hours w/ an On-site Clinical

This program is intended for students who want to prepare for an exciting, challenging and rewarding career in healthcare. This program will train students to assist physicians by performing functions related to the clinical responsibilities of a medical office. Instruction includes among other things preparing patients for examination and treatment, routine laboratory procedures, diagnostic testing, technical aspects of phlebotomy and the cardiac life cycle. Students will review important topics including phlebotomy, pharmacology, the proper use and administration of medications, taking and documenting vital signs, cardiology including proper lead placements, a professional workplace behavior, ethics and the legal aspects of healthcare. This program includes 140 hours of classroom lecture and hands on labs, as well as an onsite clinical after successful completion of the program. Note: Upon successful completion of this program, students would be eligible to sit for the National Healthcareer Association (NHA) Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) national examination.

Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)

Would you like to become a Certified Nursing Assistant? This State approved 180-hour course consists of classroom time, lab practice and clinical work. Time is spent on the aspects of caring for patients and residents, diseases and disease processes, and anatomy and physiology. The Certified Nursing Assistant State Competency Test is administered upon completion of the course. Book, background check and state test are included.

Certified Nursing Assistant - Medication (CNA-M)

The purpose of this course is to teach experienced certified nursing assistants to administer selected non-injectable medications to patients who are 14 years of age and older. This complex nursing task is to be performed under the direct on-site supervision of a licensed nurse only in long-term care nursing facilities and state mental health institutions. This standardized medication course will provide the basis of understanding needed for the certified nursing assistant (CNA) to administer medications accurately and safely.

Certified Residential Medication Aide (CRMA) Certification Course

This course provides the student with the necessary knowledge and practice to become state certified as a CRMA. It is designed to teach students to administer selected non-injectable medications safely and to document accurately in Assisted Living Residences, group homes, as well as in the home setting (Agency Home Care) within the guidelines of the DIRS for the State of Maine. The DIRS designated that a minimum of 40 hours class time would be required, however to ensure that students are able to learn all materials in a non-time pressured class, the class may take up to 48 hours to complete.

Conquering Public Speaking for Business and Life In General!

Do you speak to groups of people as part of your career, whether in small meetings, presentations or in auditoriums? Are you a teacher, coach, manager, sales person or entrepreneur?

Do your nerves overcome you when speaking in front of co-workers, employees, customers and colleagues? If you are someone who has to speak to other people, chances are you can improve upon your skills in this area. Many people are unaware of the simple skills and tricks they can use to make their presentations clearer, more interesting and more engaging. This six week course will include introduction to principles of public speaking, assignment of a 10-15 minute presentation pertinent to the students’ lives, weekly work on these presentations with critique and coaching on presence, vocal technique, body posture/positioning, engaging the audience and combating nerves. Ending with a class where everyone gets to present and bring a guest or two as audience. Both those with no experience and those looking to polish their technique are welcome. This class will be safe space to have fun while learning to make each presentation simply an engaging conversation on a larger scale.

CRMA Re-Certification

EKG Technician Certification Program

This comprehensive 50 hour EKG Technician Certification Program prepares students to function as EKG Technicians and to take the ASPT – Electrocardiograph (EKG) Technician exam and other National Certification Exams. This course will include important practice and background information on anatomy and physiology of the heart, medical disease processes, medical terminology, medical ethics, legal aspects of patient contact, electrocardiography and stress testing. Additionally, students will practice with EKG equipment and perform hands on labs including introduction to the function and proper use of the EKG machine, the normal anatomy of the chest wall for proper lead placement, 12-lead placement and other clinical practices.
